Titanic was NOT sunk by an iceberg, experts say in a new documentary. The documentary 'Titanic: The new evidence' premiered last night on UK TV. The new Titanic documentary suggests that Titanic was not just sunk by an iceberg. But, that it was also sunk because of a fire which was raging on board the Titanic since it set sail on its maiden voyage. This Titanic fire theory is not a new one. Historians already have known about the Titanic fire theory. However, the Titanic fire theory is something which has been disregarded as something which has had an important influence on the ships sinking. Titanic: The new evidence provides evidence that the fire on-board the Titanic, played a significant role in the ships demise.
This new theory suggests that if the fire was not raging on board, then the Titanic would not have sunk as fast. Therefore, the 1,500 people who lost their lives on the night of the sinking, would have been saved.
The Titanic sank on the night of the 15th of April 1912. It hit an iceberg on the 14th of April 1912 at 11.40PM. Both times were the ships time. There were also significant other things which sealed the ships fate. Specifically not letting the ship rest for the night, like other ships around the area. Titanic had been warned several times of icebergs in the area on the 14th of April 1912. But it kept on speeding, on orders from Captain Smith. Perhaps this is a more significant factor than the fire on-board. As it probably wouldn't have struck an iceberg if it slowed down and heeded the warnings of ice in the area.
