Claudius was one of Ancient Romes emperors, from 41AD to 54AD. He was the first Roman emperor to be born outside of Rome, in a place called Lugdunum, in Gaul. Claudius is well know not just for being one of Romes ancient emperors, but, also for his disabilities. With the symptoms that Claudius had, most historians think that he had cerebral palsy. The symptoms that Claudius had did match those of cerebral palsy. He hand tremors, in his head, hands and limbs. He had foam at the mouth. And, a runny nose. Unfortunately for him, he was born at the wrong time. When such illness were little understood. And mocked. His own family mocked his disabilities. His family went much further than just ridiculing poor Claudius, they kept him out of sight. His family ostracized him. And excluded him from his duties in public office. Needless to say, his family were not very nice. He was murdered by his own wife, Agrippina. Most historians think that it was likely that the emperor was murdered. Claudius died on the 13th of October, 54AD. Roman opinion at the time leads historians to believe that Claudius was murdered. Most likely throughbeing poisoned by mushrooms. Apart from his familial problems, his murder and his disability, emperor Claudius is know to have visited Britain. ​Claudius was following in his predecessors footsteps, Julius Caesar. Who invaded Britain between 55 to 54BC. ​Claudius, in 43 AD, undertook the conquest of Britain. He resided on the island for 16 days. Mostly Colchester. He lived for another 10 years after his conquest of Britain. Claudius was born on this day, 1st of August, 10BC.
